This dialogue group is dedicated to Non Violent Communication. It combines elements of Focusing’s clearing a space, interactive Focusing, conflict resolution, and David Bohm’s Dialogue Group. Everyone is welcome. Our goal is to create a place where each person may be free to express their point of view in a safe, non- violent, protected, welcoming way.
Bohm says everything is interconnected; everyone has opinions based on their experiences, and by just listening on multiple levels to yourself and others, such as listening to your inner reactions—you learn to listen to yourself, you begin to notice connections/ truths listening to other’s truths. It is a way to learn to set aside judgment, suspend belief, and take in experiences of others. It also allows participants to develop tolerance, patience, and respect for differences in an environment of safety.
The experiential Focusing method is also used in conflict resolution. This is another way to intervene in your own process by listening to yourself. I would say Focusing assists in developing an inner relationship where the mind body spirit intersect reveals truth and wisdom. When Focusing is taught to those in a conflict situation, the parties must listen to each other tell their conflict/story with a Focusing attitude. This is a very powerful interchange that leads to deep understanding.
Learn to listen to yourself and others, to communicate your meaning to others, to develop your concepts and ideas in a place of peace and respect.
